Hi, I got the idea for my Tiny Bags for Tiny Things when I made myself a tiny coin bag, to take on trip to visit my sisters. I wanted to use it to buy a coffee from the trolly, on a train.
A woman sitting opposite me admired it and asked me if I sold them. I was already helping dad sell his artwork, at craft fairs, so I decided to make up a few of my coin bag designs to sell. To begin with I only had enough stock to sit on tea plates – seems like so long ago now. From there they have evolved into the many designs you can find here and customers have found different uses for them.
Starting at the beginning it was actually my great grandmother who introduced me to craftwork. She could knit, crochet, sew and did beautiful darning. I was so young, when I learnt to knit, Nan gave me pencils instead of knitting needles, because she said they were too dangerous! I’ve only been crocheting again, seriously, since 2014. To begin with, attracted by the modern patterns and yarns, I made gifts for my family, using bought patterns, but I soon began to create my own crochet designs.
My crocheting philosophy is always make something you love – that way you will always be motivated to finish your projects. I’m totally in love with making my Tiny Bags. I also love being part of the craftwork community, where you meet up with makers time-and-time-again, catch up and exchange news – I always return motivated to make more.
Just as a footnote: I am also happy to take commissions if the design or bag style isn’t already among my collection.
